Patient engagement role description
|Tower Hamlets CCG Programme Area||Primary Care EQUIP (Enabling Quality Improvement in Practice) programme|
|EQUIP, the programme that aims to make Tower Hamlets the best place to work and receive care in the country through a Quality Improvement (QI) methodology, is inviting local people in Tower Hamlets to join QI teams in their own GP practices to help shape the development of the QI work locally. We want to improve the working experience of staff and the resulting overall patient perception, and we need you to help us do this.
What you can expect if you get involved
As a patient representative, you join weekly, one hour practice meetings, where the team works on improving processes that have been chosen, and not imposed. The process will be many, and will vary in time – but you can be involved in as many, or in as few as you like. By participating in the programme, you will bring a new perspective to the team as without you, the practice QI teams would be guessing about the impact of the changes they are making on the patient experience. More specifically you will:
|Time Commitment||The level of involvement we are looking for varies from project to project. We may need you at times just a little bit and at other times we may need you to be involved in the whole process. QI teams usually meet just once a week for an hour and there may be a bit of extra work that comes out of each meeting that you can choose to give your time to.
We are happy to be led by you in terms of how much time you can offer.
|Term||This is a rolling programme – you can join at any time, and while we hope that you will enjoy the work enough to maintain a long term commitment, we would be happy if you could work with us for even only six months at a time or for the duration of a single project, as a minimum term.|
|Support offered for patient or public involvement||EQUIP values the time and commitment that can be offered by patient representatives. The benefits of getting involved in the programme are:
You will also get the opportunity to go on a number of training courses which will help you learn what QI is and why we are using it in Tower Hamlets. You will learn the precise methodology we are using on our programme, which will help you to be an effective and productive member of the team and programme.
